About Me

I am a lifelong lover of house music and got my first “decks” sometime around 1990, I think (it’s been a few years so I can’t remember exactly).
My first turntables were relatively cheap belt-drive ones, and I loved them to bits. Then, I managed to borrow a friend’s Technics 1210’s and I was blown away by the quality.
Unfortunately, schoolboy Ben could not afford Technics, so I made do with my belt drives until I learned about CD mixers.
I can’t remember the brand or model of the first set of CD mixers that I bought, but they were shockingly bad. So bad that I convinced my poor dad to send them back and lend me the money to upgrade them to a “proper” set.

These new ones were Denon 2000F, and they cost literally double the price of the ones I was sending back, and I believe they came out before the first Pioneer CDjs. I absolutely loved them and played them almost every day.
I got a “residency” in my local pub on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights and loved it. Unfortunately, I then broke my hand when I was 19, so I collected my gear with my dad, and that was my “residency” over.
The last time I DJ’s at a venue was on millennium’s eve. My friend and I did a great set in our local pub, and it went really well.
Unfortunately, the DJing took a back seat from then on, and I never really got back into it, until recently!
In 2023, I treated myself to a cheap DJ controller (Pioneer DDJ FLX4) and a set of speakers and a DJ table and have been loving it ever since.
Come and listen to my DJ sets on my Mixcloud where I post a new set every weekday with tracks ranging from chilled deep house to funky piano house, and everything in between.
